24 February 1304 - 1 January 1368
Ibn Battuta was a Moroccan jurist and explorer whose travels spanned over 120,000 km across the Islamic world from 1325 to 1354. He visited North and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, and China. His travelogue, the 'Rihla', offers a unique snapshot of the 14th-century Muslim world. His journeys rival those of Marco Polo in both scale and detail.
