Marc Guillemot is a French solo sailor renowned for his determination and seamanship in extreme conditions. Born on June 25, 1959, in Quimper, he has participated in several Vendée Globe editions and numerous transatlantic races.
In the 2008–2009 Vendée Globe, he earned a remarkable third place after sailing over 1,000 miles without a keel—one of the most impressive feats of resourcefulness and survival in the race’s history. His courage and mastery of repairs at sea earned him widespread respect.
He is also a veteran of the Route du Rhum and Transat Jacques Vabre, often finishing among the top contenders. Guillemot is known for his commitment to innovation in IMOCA boats and for mentoring younger skippers.
