Louis Burton is a dynamic French offshore sailor who earned widespread recognition after finishing third in the 2020–2021 Vendée Globe. Born on June 4, 1985, in Ivry-sur-Seine, he represents a younger generation of skippers who blend competitive ambition with a fearless approach to the sea. Burton entered the Vendée Globe for the first time in 2012, becoming one of the youngest participants in the race’s history. Despite early challenges in previous editions, he matured as a racer and impressed during the 2020–2021 edition with his aggressive routing and bold tactical choices, particularly in the Southern Ocean. He sails under the *Bureau Vallée* colors and is known for his passionate style and rapid decision-making, often sailing on refurbished or upgraded IMOCA boats rather than custom new builds. His determination and refusal to back down in high-pressure conditions have made him a fan favorite. Off the water, he co-manages a sailing team with his partner Servane Escoffier, and he actively promotes sailing to younger audiences. Louis Burton continues to be a major contender in ocean racing, admired for his tenacity and growth as a skipper.
